eSIM activation links are an easy and secure way to install new eSIM(s) received on iPhone or Android phone. The format of such links looks like:
- iPhone (iOS): https://esimsetup.apple.com/esim_qrcode_provisioning?carddata=LPA:1$CELITECH.IDEMIA.IO$AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD
Android: https://esimsetup.android.com/esim_qrcode_provisioning?carddata=LPA:1$CELITECH.IDEMIA.IO$AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC-DDDDD
To be able to activate your eSIM using an activation link you need the following minimum requirements:
- Your phone has to be eSIM-enabled such as the devices listed here.
- Your phone needs to be connected to the internet (e.g. via Wi-Fi) for the activation process which takes 1-2 minutes.
- Your phone needs to have the following system requirements:
- For iPhone: iOS 17.4 or newer version
- For Android phones: Android 10 or newer version (and the latest Google Mobile Services - GMS*)
To update your phone to the latest software (while on Wi-Fi):
- On iPhone (iOS): Settings > General > Software Update
- On Android devices: Settings > About Phone > System Update
* Certain Android devices don't have GMS such as:
- Huawei Devices (Post-2019): Due to trade restrictions, devices like the Huawei P40, Mate 30, and newer series use HMS instead of Google apps (Maps, Gmail, Play Store).
- Chinese Domestic Market Phones: Android phones manufactured for the Chinese market often ship without GMS due to local regulations.
- Unsupported Budget Devices: Devices with under 32GB of storage may face difficulties with modern GMS requirements.
