Firstly, eSIM QR codes can only work with unlocked eSIM-enabled devices. Please check the list of eSIM enabled devices.
If you scanned the eSIM QR code with your phone's camera once, the eSIM may have been already installed on your device. Thus the QR code cannot be installed another time and that's why you're getting such error message.
To confirm that your eSIM is already installed, you can check that under the device settings.
For iPhones:
- Go to Settings > Cellular (or Mobile Service) > Under Cellular Plans (or SIMs).
- Check if there is a second line added (typically labeled as "Secondary", "Business", "Personal" or "Cellular Data") below your Primary line.
- Such line would be the installed travel eSIM.
- Tap on it to turn ON its "Data Roaming" to use it.
